Santa Teresa High School Alumni<\/h4>\n

<\/p>\n\tThe Santa Teresa High School Alumni<\/a> site was originally setup in 1996. \u00a0My ex-wrestling coach was struggling with this new-fangled web stuff, and I was recuperating from an injury.<\/p>\n

These simple pages hide a powerful server database application. Data from the registration form is handled in real-time, avoiding a long manual update process. The normal viewing pages are synthesized by the server.<\/p>\n

The Alumni site is an object lesson in the longevity of software systems and legacy implementations. This is written in PERL-3, without objects, since those were not available at the time of the initial\u00a0implementation. \u00a0The implementation and database has migrated between hosting services at least once, and it has been through a couple of database upgrades. \u00a0After nearly 20 years, it continues to run and provide utility to at least a small set of user.<\/p>\n

It also serves as an example of prior art for commercial organizations.<\/p>\n
