Santa Teresa High School AlumniThe Santa Teresa High School Alumni site was originally setup in 1996. My ex-wrestling coach was struggling with this new-fangled web stuff, and I was recuperating from an injury.
These simple pages hide a powerful server database application. Data from the registration form is handled in real-time, avoiding a long manual update process. The normal viewing pages are synthesized by the server.
The Alumni site is an object lesson in the longevity of software systems and legacy implementations. This is written in PERL-3, without objects, since those were not available at the time of the initial implementation. The implementation and database has migrated between hosting services at least once, and it has been through a couple of database upgrades. After nearly 20 years, it continues to run and provide utility to at least a small set of user.
It also serves as an example of prior art for commercial organizations.
